SOUND HEALING INFORMATION

ABOUT YOUR TREATMENT SESSION

WHY COME FOR SOUND HEALING?

People come for sound healing for a variety of reasons. Many come because they want to relax, unwind and de-stress. Some people come with aches and pains, others because something is bothering them or because they want to change an aspect of their lives. Quite a few come simply because they enjoy it. As one client said, “where else can you get a personalised concert from a master musician that will also make you feel better?”

All are welcome.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE?

You are invited to prepare your space so that you are as comfortable as possible – on a bed, on a mat on the floor, or on a chair, as you wish. Don’t forget a blanket, pillows/cushions and an eye mask, if you would like to use one. It is good to wear loose clothes for comfort and layers are advised because body temperature can fluctuate during a treatment. Dim the lights and have some bottled or covered water handy.

You may want to set your phone to silent – unless we lose internet connection –  and ask members of your household not to disturb you. It is a condition of my insurance that I must be able to see you during the treatment, so your camera will need to remain on.

Please avoid a heavy meal and alcohol beforehand.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY SESSION?

At the start we will talk about what brought you for your treatment and your hopes for the session. You may set an intention if you wish. I will answer any questions you may have and make sure that you are comfortable.

Above all, I believe in creating a safe space where you will be supported throughout your session. This is a space of total acceptance and confidentiality, so you need not be anything other than yourself. Here you can be free to lie back and allow the sounds to do their work for you in whatever way you need.

You will hear a range of instruments, which may include voice and other instruments, such as harp, gongs, singing bowls, bells, chimes, strings and flutes. After the voice and instruments have stopped, there will be a period of silence before you are brought back again with grounding vocal or nature sounds.

HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION BE?

A typical session lasts for approximately 60-75 minutes, depending on how much pre-treatment discussion is needed. Ideally, please schedule 90 minutes in total, to allow for recovery/processing time after the session, if needed. If you have less time than this, please let me know at the start of the session.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY SESSION?

Afterwards, you may feel relaxed, refreshed and re-energised. It is possible that you will experience a lessening of physical pain and tension, or you may receive insights into things that are concerning you. It is likely that you will feel different in some way. Occasionally, you may feel worse before you feel better. This is quite normal and it is actually desirable, because it is a result of the sound triggering a detoxification process. It will only be temporary. If this happens to you, please drink plenty of water, rest and be kind to yourself. You are welcome to contact me if you would like to discuss your reaction to the sound healing treatment.

about Sound healing

HOW DOES SOUND HEALING WORK?

See my Substack article on How Sound Healing Works.

WILL SOUND HEALING CURE ME OF A SPECIFIC CONDITION?

As a sound healer, I do not diagnose medical conditions or treat specific illnesses or symptoms of dis-ease. Rather, I treat the whole person by gently and lovingly re-introducing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual harmony.

Sound healing is not intended to replace medical advice or treatment.

ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?

If you have any of the following conditions, please mention this at the time of booking. We can then discuss what form of treatment would be appropriate for you:

Ménière’s Disease, Tinnitus, Hyperacusis (Sensitivity to Sound), Epilepsy, Psychosis, Osteoporosis, Cancer, Acute Injury/Internal Bleeding, Stroke, Thrombosis, Hepatitis, Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease, High or Low Blood Pressure.

Please also let me know in advance if you are fitted with a pacemaker or have any metal implants, pins or bindings, if you are taking Warfarin, or if you are or might be pregnant.

If you have recently had surgery, it is advisable to wait for 2-3 months before having sound healing.

If in doubt, please speak to your general or specialist medical practitioner for advice.

ABOUT ONLINE SOUND HEALING

DO ONLINE TREATMENTS WORK?

Yes. Initially, I was sceptical too, but having participated in online sound and music healing sessions both as practitioner and recipient, I can say for certain that it can be more or less as effective as an in person treatment. Despite not being in the same room, you are still able to receive the sound vibrations and the healing intention behind them. In some ways, an online session can be an advantage: you can prepare yourself in your own way and take things at your own speed afterwards, without having to negotiate travel to and from the appointment. Of course, one great advantage is that you can benefit from sound and music healing wherever you are in the world.

WHAT PLATFORM DO YOU USE?

I have found that Zoom is currently the best platform for online sound and music healing treatments.

WHAT IF THERE ARE CONNECTIVITY ISSUES?

I will ask you for a telephone number that I can contact you on. That way, if we lose internet connection we can remain in contact and you will not be left unsupported. If the session is not viable due to connection issues – your end or mine – I will provide a full refund.
