The walks are at a private wood near Bradenham, Bucks. The owner of the wood has asked me not to disclose its location in public. Details and directions will be provided on booking.
The walks are suitable for ages 12 and over. It is a condition of my insurance that children aged 12-16 must be accompanied by an adult who agrees to maintain responsibility for their behaviour and wellbeing at all times.
There is a maximum of 8 adults per walk. The number of accompanied children will be subject to discretion.
FITNESS AND MOBILITY
The walks are slow and leisurely. They are devised so that anyone with a reasonable level of mobility and fitness may participate. However, we walk in woodland terrain which, by its nature, includes slopes, inclines and trip hazards, such as tree roots and uneven ground. You are responsible for your own assessment of your ability to participate in this walk. If in doubt, please contact me to discuss.
We walk in all weather conditions except for extreme heat, extreme cold or snow. In these circumstances, the walk will be cancelled and payments transferred to an alternative walk or refunded, as per request.
I very much regret that the walks are not suitable for wheelchair users at this time. I am actively seeking a location which can accommodate wheelchairs and hope to be able to offer accessible events in the future.
What to WEAR and Bring
Suitable footwear (not high heels, mules or flip flops)
Clothing that cover legs and arms to reduce the risk of tick bites
Something to sit on such as a waterproof mat or portable stool
Additional clothing layers for warmth, should it be needed
Sunscreen (in Summer)
Emergency medication, such as inhalers, epipens etc, if applicable
Optional pen and notebook if you would like to record any observations
The safety of all attendees is paramount. I hold an up to date ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid. Before each walk I conduct a risk assessment and take all reasonable precautions to avoid hazardous situations. Walk participants also have a responsibility to avoid putting themselves or others at risk: this includes bringing suitable equipment, remaining within any limits imposed by physical or medical conditions; and behaving with consideration for the safety of themselves and others at all times.
We adhere to government Covid-19 guidelines in place at the time of each walk. From July 2021 onwards, we shall continue to observe social distancing, use hand sanitiser and avoid sharing equipment wherever possible. Masks are not obligatory, but attendees are free to wear one if they choose.
Payment is via BACS or Paypal in advance.
If you cannot attend a walk that you have booked, you may transfer your payment to a future booking. I regret that I cannot refund payments if you cancel. The exception to this is if you cannot attend because you have tested positive for Covid-19. In which case, please do not attend; provide me with proof of a positive Covid-19 test and I will issue a refund.
The walks are subject to a minimum numbers of attendees. If a walk is cancelled due to lack of attendees, extreme weather or for other reasons out of my control, a full refund will be given.
Participation in a Wildsong Walk is undertaken at one’s own risk. No particular experience or outcome of the walk can be guaranteed.
