Answers to commonly asked questions about individual Sound Healing and Harp Therapy sessions.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE?
Choose loose clothing and avoid having a heavy meal and alcohol beforehand.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
You do not need to bring anything with you. Bedding, blankets and refreshments will be provided.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT BEFORE MY SESSION?
When you arrive, we will talk about what brought you for Sound Healing or Harp Therapy and your hopes for the session. You may set an intention if you wish. I will answer any questions you may have and make sure that you are comfortable.
DO I NEED TO SIGN ANYTHING?
I will ask you to fill out a new client information sheet and sign to say that you agree to have a Sound Healing/Harp Therapy treatment from me. I will also ask you to sign a consent form which will allow me to securely store this form in line with GDPR regulations. For more information see my Privacy Notice.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY SESSION?
You are not expected to do anything during a Sound Healing/Harp Therapy session. Simply bathe in the sound and allow it to do its work for you on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
To facilitate as relaxed a state as possible, you are invited to lie down on the comfortable bedding provided. However, if you would prefer to be seated, that is absolutely fine, just let me know in advance.
You will hear a range of instruments, which will include gongs and other instruments, such as singing bowls, bells, chimes, strings, flutes and voice. After the gongs and instruments have stopped, there will also be a period of silence before you are brought back again with grounding nature sounds.
You will be invited to make use of the Ombed: this is a vibroacoustic bed connected to a set of speakers so that the frequencies of the harp are felt in the body. It is a very gentle and subtle sensation and nothing at all to be concerned about. However, if you would prefer, it is possible to benefit from Harp Therapy without using the vibroacoustic features of the Ombed. If this is the case, I still recommend that you lie on the disconnected Ombed for your session, as it is extremely comfortable! But, of course, if you would prefer to sit, just let me know before your session.
You will hear a range of music on the harp. You may also hear other supporting instruments, including singing bowls, bells, chimes, strings, flutes and voice.
If you have come for a Reiki Drum treatment, you will be asked to lie on the treatment couch. Again, if you prefer to be seated, let me know. See the Reiki Drum page for specific information about this treatment.
CAN GONGS, HARP THERAPY AND/OR REIKI DRUM BE COMBINED IN A SINGLE TREATMENT?
Yes…. However, it has been my experience that this can end up as too much of a good thing. If you are interested in combining treatments, its best to discuss with me first and we can come up something to suit you.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY SESSION?
Afterwards, you may feel relaxed, refreshed and re-energised. It is possible that you will experience a lessening of physical pain and tension, or you may receive insights into things that are concerning you. It is likely that you will feel different in some way. Occasionally, you may feel worse before you feel better. This is quite normal and is a result of the sound triggering a detoxification process. If this happens to you, please drink plenty of water, rest and be kind to yourself. You are welcome to contact me if you would like to discuss your reaction to the sound healing treatment.
WILL SOUND HEALING/HARP THERAPY CURE ME OF A SPECIFIC CONDITION?
Sound healers do not diagnose or treat specific conditions and no set outcome can be guaranteed. Rather, we treat the whole person, addressing causes of dis-ease on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.
Sound Healing and Harp Therapy are not intended to replace medical advice or treatment.
ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?
If you have any of the following conditions, please mention this at the time of booking. We can then discuss what form of treatment would be appropriate for you:
Ménière’s Disease, Tinnitus, Epilepsy, Psychosis, Osteoporosis, Acute Injury/Internal Bleeding, Stroke, Thrombosis, Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease, High or Low Blood Pressure.
Please also let me know in advance if you are fitted with a pacemaker or have any metal implants, pins or bindings, if you are taking Warfarin, or if you are or might be pregnant.
If you have recently had an operation, it is advisable to wait for 2-3 months before having Sound Healing.
If in doubt, please speak to your general or specialist medical practitioner for advice.
