WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Bring a yoga mat or camping mattress to lie on (bringing extra bedding to bulk it up is even better), a comfy pillow and a cosy blanket to cover yourself with. Some people like to bring an eye pillow as well. I suggest lying down, if you can, as its easiest to drift off into a relaxed state from that position. However, if you prefer to sit, you would be welcome to do so – just do whatever you need to be comfortable.
Bring a bottle of water with you too.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE THE SOUND JOURNEY?
Wear loose clothing and avoid having a heavy meal and alcohol beforehand.
Please arrive at least minutes before the advertised start time to give yourself a chance to get comfortable. In order not to disturb other participants, latecomers cannot be admitted.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE SOUND JOURNEY?
You are not expected to do anything during the Sound Journey. The intention is that you simply bathe in the sound and allow it to do its work for you on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
You will hear a range of instruments, which will depend on the element and landscape that we are exploring. These may include singing bowls, bells, chimes, strings, flutes, voice and various nature sounds. The Sound Journeys culminate with the sound of the gongs. There will then be a period of silence before you are brought back again.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE SOUND JOURNEY?
Afterwards, you may feel relaxed, refreshed and re-energised. It is possible that you will experience a lessening of physical pain and tension, or you may receive insights into things that are concerning you. It is likely that you will feel different in some way. Occasionally, you may feel worse before you feel better. This is quite normal and is a result of the sound triggering a detoxification process. If this happens to you, please drink plenty of water, rest and be kind to yourself. You are welcome to contact me if you would like to discuss your reaction to the Sound Journey.
CAN CHILDREN COME?
It is very important that other participants are not disturbed during the Sound Journey. For that reason, older children are welcome as long as they are able to sit or lie still and quietly for the full duration of the Sound Journey, which can be up to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
ARE THERE ANY CONTRAINDICATIONS?
Sound Journeys may not be suitable for certain medical and psychological conditions.
Caution needs to be exercised if you have Ménière’s Disease, Severe Tinnitus, Epilepsy, Schizophrenia/Psychosis or Severe Osteoporosis, if you are taking Warfarin, or are pregnant, or have recently had a major operation. In these circumstances, please contact me before attending a group Sound Journey so that we can discuss whether it would be suitable for you.
If in doubt, please speak to your general or specialist medical practitioner for advice.
